Dealing with criticism can be a real challenge. I've been feeling it a lot lately, and maybe you have too. God recently helped me see something important: there's a big difference between critique and criticism. A critique is like when your boss gives you feedback at work. It's meant to help you grow because they believe in your success. Ephesians 4:29 reminds us, "Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
Criticism, on the other hand, often feels like it's just there to tear you down. Remembering this during a tough day, especially after some hurtful comments on social media, I turned to God. He pointed me to this powerful advice: "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." -Ephesians 6:11
It's not really about the people; it's about the spirit behind their actions. This truth really hit home for me. God reminded me to suit up spiritually: truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than just metaphors. They're real tools that protect and empower us.
And here's the thing... if we really grasp who we are in Christ, none of those negative words should shake us. We're defined by His love and truth, not by opinions or fleeting comments. Thanks to that divine critique, I'm learning to armor up every day, staying rooted in what He thinks about me.
