When Ambrealle Brown found out she needed a kidney transplant, it felt like her whole life got put on hold. She had to quit nursing school and spend hours every day connected to a dialysis machine, just trying to stay alive.
But then her mom, Nija, quietly went and got tested to see if she could be a donor. And without telling Ambrealle, she found out she was a match.
When the transplant call finally came, Ambrealle picked up the phone, then immediately called her mom to share the good news – only to hear her mom say, “I know. It’s me.”
It’s one thing to give your child life once, but this mom got to do it twice.
And the story doesn’t end there – after their successful transplant surgeries, the two of them went back to nursing school together, studying side by side, and even walked the stage together at graduation.
What an incredible picture of sacrificial love.
