Your Words Can Cut Or Your Words Can Heal

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Yeah… not true.

Proverbs 12:18 says our words can cut like a sword or bring healing – and I was reminded of that at a recent conference.

I met a woman named Karen, and we shared a laugh about how our name has gotten a pretty bad rap in recent years. We both admitted there are moments we hesitate to even tell people our names. That stuck with me longer than I expected.

But not long after, I saw my friend Lisa. She ran over, hugged me, and said to someone nearby, “This is my friend Caryn. She’s a treasure.”

Her words undid the heaviness I didn’t even realize I was carrying.

Your words matter. More than you know. They can cut – or they can heal. So let’s be people who speak healing.
